Pickleball Tournament Preparation And Checklist

If you’re looking to play in pickleball tournaments, the actual preparation can be as important as having fun and playing in the actual tournament. To set yourself up for success, here are some pickleball tournament preparation and checklists you may want to go through.

A Few Days (To Weeks) Before The Tournament

If you have a few days or weeks, this is the time to go to the store or order items that you will need for the tournament. These are going to be things that you will need on tournament day depending on what you use. You will want to prioritize your hydration and energy levels throughout the day. So water, electrolytes, protein bars, and bananas are highly recommended for most people.

Other gears you may need are things like,

A Day Before The Tournament

You want to make sure that you have everything set up before the big day. That includes laying out your attire, and shoes, regripping your paddle, and packing all your essentials the night before. That way, on tournament day, all you have to do is grab everything without worrying about forgetting something.

You will also want to make sure that you’re well-rested so give yourself enough time to have a full night’s sleep.

Warm-Up And Stretch

If there is a routine that should be practiced before every pickleball game and tournament is a warm-up and stretch routine. This is different from warming up your shots. Warming up your body and stretching the muscles can prevent extreme cramping that can occur from playing sports outdoors.

Hydrate

It is not a secret that you have to hydrate. You will actually want to keep drinking a couple of hours before the tournament so your body is ready.

Soothe

Even with applying and reapplying sunscreen, unwanted sunburn can occur when playing in hot climates. Once your game or tournament is over, make sure to soothe and treat your skin with some aloe vera.
